At the Bunya Mountains National Park


The Bunya Mountains School Camp Centre is a stunning complex of European style Log Chalets and Conference / Dining Hall set on 22½ acres of tree studded splendour. It is designed to capture the unique beauty and tranquility of its gracious environment, and to stimulate awe and exploration of the natural wonders surrounding it. The Centre is a popular school camp venue.

Participants, instinctively relax ready to focus on the camp challenge. A camp at Bunya Mountains is memorable, the peace and beauty is therapeutic and pleasantly conducive to reflective thought and harmony. group relationships thrive on the positive atmosphere generated by our magical Bunya environment.

The National Park is a microcosm for nature and environmental studies. Set in a wilderness location and featuring the largest forest of bunya pines in the world, environmentalists and nature enthusiasts flock here to study the enormous variety of bird species, wildlife and vegetation.


Groups can informally explore several short stages of the 40km of National Park walking tracks that are safe and well maintained.

Alternatively National Park Rangers may help with informative talks, guided bushwalks, slide shows and evening spotlighting walks. National Park interpretive officers are highly informed and excellent speakers.

The 22½ acre site is suitable for a variety of group activities, team building challenges and reflective sessions. In addition there is tennis and volleyball court and a very attractive BBQ gazebo with seating.

Educational Kits & Teacher Resources on National Park Environment and Outdoor Educational Activities are available through school libraries (Check for promotional copies).

Included free of charge:-

  • Use of the Tennis & Basketball Court and grassed volley ball court.
  • Ball games on the level grassed areas (equipment supplied)
  • Teacher led walks through 40km of National Park walking tracks or Fishers Lookout (1.5km ) to see the stars & lights of Kingaroy-Dalby-Oakey-Toowoomba. Sunsets at Fishers Lookout are spectacular.
  • Spotlight for nocturnal animals such as mountain brushtail & ringtail possums, owls, frogmouths & luminous fungi (torches provided).
  • Watch the chocolate wattle bats emerge at dusk from the old schoolhouse at Dandabah.

  • Wine & Cheese Making Tour & cheese tasting at Stuart Range (Kingaroy)
  • Jondaryan Woolshed - spend at least ½ day there. Trained staff will design a program to fit in with your class requirements.
